Early this morning Kid Cudi released a snippet of “Teleport 2 Me,” the first single from his new album WZRD. If the song sounds familiar, it’s because it features a prominent sample of Desire‘s “Under Your Spell.” First released on their debut album in 2009, the song was used in the recent Cannes-winning, Ryan Gosling-starring Drive, and since then it’s picked up almost two million plays on YouTube. We are thrilled that Kid Cudi and his producer Dot Da Genius have added another chapter to the story of “Under Your Spell.”

We are extremely happy and proud of Jeppe Laursen, who last night was nominated for a Grammy for his production work on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which is up for Album Of The Year. It’s been a long road since Jeppe first started working with Gaga, and it’s an amazing moment to see his hard work, ideas, and creativity be recognized. Korsbæk represent!

We are very excited to announce that we have purchased the landmark Silver Lake club Los Globos! EPR was approached by Steve Edelson (El Cid, The Joint) in August about partnering with Steve on the club and of course we gladly accepted the opportunity. Los Globos is a historic venue in LA’s musical history, being one of the first gay nightclubs in the city, as well as hosting the first-ever legal rave in the US (Sextacy in 1989).

For the last 38 years, the club has primarily only been open three nights a week, and only the upstairs portion of the club. Our goal is to have the entire club (including the downstairs, which has been shuttered for several decades) open 7 nights a week. To accomplish this, we’ve hired Travis Holcombe to be the club’s talent buyer. When we used to throw Echo Park Records parties regularly Travis was always our resident DJ, and since then he’s become a DJ on KCRW. We’re very excited to have Travis as part of the EPR team now and we’re even more excited to see Los Globos flourish into the cultural landmark it should be. We also have some very cool news about a sister property for Los Globos but we’re not ready to spill the beans just yet…

The first single and title track is available now on iTunes, and Alberto Rossini’s video for the song is on YouTube (and embedded below).

2012 is going to be a big year for Italians Do It Better, and to celebrate we’re throwing a giant Italians Do It Better party in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve! The party will be at Los Globos and there will be live sets from Glass Candy, Chromatics, and Desire, with DJ sets from Mike Simonetti & more friends all night long. In his first release since co-writing and co-producing Lady Gaga’s #1 hit “Born This Way,” Jeppe‘s collaboration with The Magician, “I Don’t Know What To Do,” has been released by Kitsune. Hitting the top 5 of the Hype Machine charts, the song has received a strong critical reception as well, with the Guardian calling it “an ’80s anthem to trump all predecessors. Think early house and new romantic, big hair and 1989, Tears For Fears and Jack Your Body, all boxy, epic backbeat and a bit of Simple Minds glitter-pop, a song that wears its heart on its sleeve and its sleeves halfway up its arms.” Jeppe is currently working on more original material and we will have an update on that very soon.

Poolside‘s new song “Take Me Home” is out now as part of Aeroplane‘s “In Flight Entertainment” compilation. The song will also feature on Poolside’s debut album, which will be out sometime in 2012. Filip and Jeff shot a video for the song in Sedona and that will be premiering in early November. Poolside – Take Me Home by Poolside Music

Road trip! On August 27th, Blow Up Forever goes down at the legendary Factory in San Francisco, with EPR acts Glass Candy and Poolside on the bill, along with friends like Cosmic Kids, Classixx, Acid Girls, Plastic Plates, and many more. This show kicks off Glass Candy’s West Coast tour, which coincides with the release of their new single “Warm In The Winter.” This will also be the first gig in San Francisco for Poolside, who’ll be performing material off their debut album. We’ll be making the drive up the 5 to take part in this party (and to get a slice at Goldenboy), so we think you should, too. Tickets are available here.

We’ve had to keep our traps shut about this for a while now, so we’re very happy to be able to announce that both Chromatics and Desire have music in the new film Drive. Starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks, and Ron Perlman and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (who won Best Director at Cannes for the film), Drive is excellent, a modern take on LA noir that is thrilling and surprising. This is not the first time the music of the Italians familia has appeared in one of Nic’s films: Glass Candy’s “Digital Versicolor” makes an appearance in his 2008 film Bronson. In Drive, updated versions of “Under Your Spell” by Desire and “Tick of the Clock” by Chromatics appear both in the film and on the soundtrack, and “Tick” is also featured in the trailer. GODDOLLARS – the Kenny Bania of house music, the resident rhythm wrestler at Rhonda – heads south this weekend to help repair the fractured border relations between the U.S. and Mexico. On Saturday night, he’ll be doing community service in Tijuana at La Chupiteria (and later at Adelita’s), and on Sunday he tutors high-income youth poolside at the W Hotel in Bland Diego.
